Cuban band leader Pérez Prado, also known as the 'King of Mambo' backstage at the Sahara on July 24, 1956. Historians consider Prado to be one of the founders of mambo, a bouncy blend of tropical music that became popular after WWII.

Mother Teresa (then Sister Teresa) at the National Council of Catholic Women's Convention (NCCW) in the Las Vegas Convention Center on November 3, 1960. This was the only time Mother Teresa visited Las Vegas and it was important because it was the first time she left India since she arrived there in 1929. Her 1960 speech at the NCCW convention in Las Vegas was her introduction to the wider world.

Floyd Patterson with Judy Garland at the Dunes on July 17, 1963. Patterson was training for his fight against Sonny Liston on July 22, 1963. Celebrities, like Garland, often visited boxers while they were training. In fact, it was often part of a boxers contract that they train at a local casino before their fights as a way to increase tourism and draw celebrities to Las Vegas.

Sugar Ray Robinson in the dressing room at the Sahara on February 4, 1953. While in Las Vegas he announced his retirement from boxing and put on a boxing clinic. The Sahara hotel put up a makeshift ring by the pool and Robinson offered instruction to local amateur fighters.

At the time, Reagan was an entertainer and performed at the Last Frontier, headlining with The Continentals, the Blackburn Twins, the Honey Brothers, and the Last Frontier's dancers, the Adorabelles.

Keely Smith, Louis Prima, and their daughter Toni Prima posed for photos in their Las Vegas home with the Las Vegas News Bureau on May 7, 1956. Smith and Prima had a five-year residency in the Casbar Lounge at the Sahara.
Elvis Presley relaxed with his friends near the pool at the New Frontier on April 30, 1956. He was there to perform on a bill with Shecky Greene, but his first performance in Las Vegas did not go well. Despite his fame, he did not appeal to the middle-age crowd at the New Frontier and he would not perform in Las Vegas again until 1969.
Jane Powell, Noel Coward, and Zsa Zsa Gabor at the Desert Inn on July 7, 1955. Frank Sinatra had chartered a plane and flew in several celebrities to support Coward for his opening show at the Desert Inn, which ran for four weeks.
Groucho Marx and Nat King Cole at a party for the opening of the Tropicana on April 4, 1957. Opening night festivities were provided by Monte Proser's 'Tropicana Revue', a $250,000 musical starring Eddie Fisher in the Theatre Restaurant later renamed Fountain Theatre.
